Many articles have been written for aspiring writers and most of them focus on what should be done. Rarely do we find articles on what you should not do.
Let us look at what every writer should avoid in the course of their writing:
Avoid Relying Solely on Writing
It might take a while before a writer can start making some considerable earnings from their writing. So it is sometimes necessary to have some other jobs in order to complement your income. Not every writer can be a full-timer. You can have a career in a different field but also write on the side. Know where you stand and don’t confuse the two.
Avoid Letting Your Heart Rule Your Head
Writers can tend to fall in love with their own writing to the extent where they make some very obvious mistakes. Always be honest with yourself and make an honest critique of your work. It is better to criticize yourself than hearing it from someone else. Taking reasonable breaks in-between writing really helps to clear the mind for a better critique.
Avoid Hiding Away
Many writers have this habit of hiding and tucking their work away. Do not be afraid of showing off your work. If you have questions ask. If you want to publish, go ahead and look for ways of doing it. Do not be afraid of getting out there because writers sharpen each other. They help each other because everyone starts somewhere, even the greatest writers of all time.
